ABOUT THE PROJECT

Artist Statement
We derived our project from the expectations and pressures to know who you are, where you want to be, and what you want to do with your life. Each poster in our triptych poses one of these three questions.  We were inspired by the National Park posters done by the Works Projects Administration (WPA). The style our posters mimicked the simple iconography and color pallet. Natural landscapes which are often used for inspirational message were turned into more troublesome environments. Sequoia National Park became the Forest of the Unknown; Yellowstone National Park became the Geyser of Self Doubt; and Yosemite National Park became the Precarious Cliffs of Peril. A similar font and arrangement was used to further the allusion to the National Park posters. Our aim for this project was to console our fellow peers who don’t know where their life is headed. We wanted to let them know it’s alright to not have everything figured out right now; that is what college is for.
